What to do with a small bullion bar

My husband has a small gold bullion bar which he bought at a gift shop when he visited the United States. I don"t really believe the bar is worth much but I think it might be used for other purposes. I"ve tried to look at it from an artist"s point of view. I paint a lot, I also make sculptures and ornaments. I"m going to try to make artistic jewellery. Last month, my husband and I visited an art and craft fair in London. There were lots of people selling sculptures, ornamental vases and such things, but I spent nearly half an hour talking to one artist. She was selling jewellery made of gold, silver, precious stones such as amethysts and agates, beautiful earrings with some tiny pictures, sophisticated necklaces and bracelets. I loved all those things and I couldn"t help buying some. Of course, my husband was really angry when he found out how much money I had spent. But this woman was an inspiration to me, and I haven"t been able to stop thinking about trying to create my own jewellery. I"m going to ask my husband if he lets me melt his gold bullion down and make a couple of earrings and bracelets. I"ve already imagined how they would look like and I"m sure he would be really impressed if he saw the results. But I"m not that sure he will ever let me try.
